Sarah Finds Her Purpose

I wanted to share a victory story of how one young woman named Sarah has found her calling of purpose. Always follow your discernment.

The decision to step up as president crept up on me over the last few months in prayer and I was quite hesitant to accept the calling. The Lord knows how stubborn I can be so he sent in some backup: St. Joan of Arc. Her name began popping up in articles I was reading or podcasts I was listening to, and I didn’t think much of it at the time. But the words surrounding her description were not words of war or her martyrdom, rather her youth causing her to feel intimidated and cautious even when God was so obviously calling her to do amazing things for others.

It didn’t occur to me that there was a correlation between my prayers of guidance and St. Joan of Arc’s sudden presence in my life until a couple weeks ago. I was on my way to a leadership team meeting when some ladies on a podcast began talking about Joan of Arc, and my ears perked up. The women on the podcast conversed about the fact that Joan was so young when God called her, but He equipped her with the talents and vision to know how to live out her call. Most importantly, she didn’t waste any time. She jumped right in. She knew that there is urgency on the things God calls us to do, and she also was aware of the fact that when God calls you to do something, you can stand up and own it or you can wait around for the validation from others and have them make the decision for you. And then it clicked. God has been equipping me for this role, and He knew exactly the right way to do it all along. He knows I’m stubborn, but He also knows that I am capable.

Being President of YCP is in no way close to the calling that St. Joan of Arc was faced with, but it is a calling nonetheless. I am not going to lie about my nervousness and caution as I step into this role, but God led me here so I am trusting in Him to help me lead YCP Cleveland.

I am so excited about what the next year will bring for our team. With that being said, I am praying that some of the leadership team members may be feeling a call to step up and assist me in a role of Vice President. Pray about it and let me know if you feel a call to help lead the team!

What’s the First Dream on your Dream List that Came True?

When developing your dream list and your 10-10-10, recognize that they don’t have to be achieved in the order you wrote them.
Someone else’s dream may spark your own because you recognize it as a cause you can get behind.
When you have a dream, purpose or a cause greater than yourself, you might need a whole bunch of people to make it come true.

To achieve your dream, you don’t have to do it alone.

God is so powerful and infinite in His resources that He can put people into your life to help achieve that one dream.

One vision of success: the people who know you the best should love you the most.
Another vision of success: a progressive realization of a worthwhile dream or goal.

It’s going towards those things that are empowering you, which you want to achieve.

Four levels of success: Survival, Stability, Success, and Significance.
Survival: Your ends are barely meeting.
Stability: You’re able to take care of yourself and maybe you have an acquisition or two.
Success: You have good things going, and you’re able to focus on some of the higher callings in life as well.
Significance: All your needs are met and you can focus on others. You can have an impact in the world.
Becoming an E5 Leader is another level of success.

Who doesn’t want to live in balance and equilibrium in the five pillars of life?

What was your definition of success as a child? Do you need to make an adjustment to gain those levels of success?
Consider strapping on the mantle of the progressive realization of a worthwhile dream or goal. It will absolutely change your life!

Purpose

Purpose is what directs us on our journey in life.
If we find that our purposes have been too small, we need to get a new purpose.
With a purpose greater than yourself, you will never run out of opportunity to serve, to grow, and to be more than you thought you could ever be.
Purpose in your life has a higher meaning than just you:

Married? Your purpose is now two. Add a set of in-laws and extended family and your purpose grew.

Children? Your purpose grows again, with a new level and dimension that invites legacy into your purpose.

Live with intentionality, never losing the idea of being purpose driven in everything you do.

Sacrifice

SUMMARY

Sacrifice is something that you choose to do for the benefit of someone else, for the good of a cause or a need.
Though frowned upon in our culture, sacrifice should be embraced because it brings about humility.
Sacrifice is one of the methods by which we can find humility.
There are sacrifices for growth, for improvement, for kindness and service to others, and those we make for love.
Sacrifices can be made or forced. Those forced are burdened with pain that is usually intense and immense.
Change your culture of thought about sacrifice, to be looked at as part of a process that you make as an offering of friendship, love or submission.
Practice sacrifice. Embrace it. It is part of life and of the process to growth and development.

What Does Excuse Mean?

SUMMARY

An excuse is the skin of a reason justified by a lie.
Don’t give excuses in life.

Don’t feel compelled to explain why you’re not doing things you know you should or are afraid to do.

If need be, say “I blew it, I’m sorry, I messed up. I’ll do better.”

That’s not an excuse and you can get right to whatever it is and take care of the challenge.

One of the most frequent excuses heard is “I’m sorry I’m late, I had this happen, that happen, the other happen.”

The real thing is that you just didn’t plan accordingly.

You lose your capital value with people when you make excuses.

Power of Submission

SUMMARY

Having a cause or purpose greater than yourself, which you can get under, puts you ‘sub’ to that mission.
Think, plan and find ways to gird up that mission in your life.

Books, tapes, encouragement, associations, and using the power of the spoken word are all ways to help support whatever your mission might be.

It takes great discipline, courage and love to be in submission to another person.
Recognize the difference between being sub to the mission and being submissive to a person, a bondage or a trait.
A great example of submission is the act of service where you put your needs after the needs of others.
Submitting to a higher power/authority brings freedom-

Knowing that you’re in submission to the right thing and in submission to the proper alignment allows for a freeing feeling.

Submission may be especially difficult for men:

Recognize that men are in submission to many things on a regular basis. Come to terms with it, understand it, and harness it to become a powerful, positive tool in your life.

Prayer

SUMMARY

Prayer is a communication made between the human being and a superior power, GOD.
Human beings send prayers to an all-knowing, all-loving God in hope and faith that he’ll answer those prayers.
Think about: “Does God hear and listen to my prayers?”
How do you pray?

Standardized prayers, like ‘Our Father’ or free, unstructured prayer

If prayer hasn’t been natural for you, give it a try.

Open your mouth and let words pour out; address God and ask Him to be in your life.

Never, ever be afraid to praise Him or ask Him through your petitions.
Take arrows off yourself, point them outward by praying for others daily.
Prayers of reconciliation, petition, thanksgiving, praise and glory allow you to free your soul and your mind.
